1. Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction)
Cause: Blockage in heart’s blood supply (cholesterol buildup, clot).
Symptoms: Chest pain/pressure, shortness of breath, sweating, pain in left arm/jaw.
Immediate Solution:
- Call emergency services immediately.
- Chew an aspirin (if not allergic).
- Keep patient calm and seated.
Prevention Tips: - Eat low-fat, heart-friendly diet.
- Avoid smoking, control blood pressure & cholesterol.
- Exercise regularly.
2. Stroke
Cause: Blocked or burst blood vessel in the brain.
Symptoms: Sudden weakness (face, arm, leg), slurred speech, vision problems.
Immediate Solution:
- Call ambulance immediately — time is critical.
- Keep patient lying on side if unconscious.
Prevention Tips: - Control BP, blood sugar, cholesterol.
- Avoid smoking & excessive alcohol.
- Maintain healthy weight.
3. Severe Asthma Attack
Cause: Allergens, pollution, infections triggering airway inflammation.
Symptoms: Extreme shortness of breath, wheezing, inability to speak in full sentences.
Immediate Solution:
- Use rescue inhaler immediately.
- If no improvement, seek urgent medical help.
Prevention Tips: - Identify & avoid triggers.
- Always carry prescribed inhaler.
- Get vaccinated for flu/pneumonia.
4. Severe Dehydration
Cause: Extreme fluid loss from diarrhea, vomiting, heat stroke, or burns.
Symptoms: Dry mouth, dizziness, low BP, confusion, fainting.
Immediate Solution:
- Give ORS or electrolyte fluids.
- If unconscious or unable to drink — seek hospital care for IV fluids.
Prevention Tips: - Drink enough water daily.
- Increase fluid intake in hot weather or illness.
5. Severe Burns
Cause: Fire, chemicals, electricity, hot liquids.
Symptoms: Blistering, charring, severe pain, shock.
Immediate Solution:
- Cool burn with running water (10–20 mins).
- Do not pop blisters or apply ice/oils.
- Cover with sterile cloth and seek medical help.
Prevention Tips: - Keep flammable materials away from children.
- Use protective gear when working with heat/chemicals.
6. Food Poisoning (Severe)
Cause: Contaminated food/water with harmful bacteria or toxins.
Symptoms: Severe vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, fever.
Immediate Solution:
- Drink ORS, avoid solid food until stable.
- Seek medical help if blood in stool, persistent vomiting, or high fever.
Prevention Tips: - Eat freshly cooked food.
- Wash fruits/vegetables well.
- Store perishables in fridge.
7. Snake Bite
Cause: Venom injection from snake bite.
Symptoms: Pain/swelling, difficulty breathing, blurred vision.
Immediate Solution:
- Keep patient still & calm.
- Immobilize limb below heart level.
- Rush to hospital — do not cut or suck wound.
Prevention Tips: - Wear boots in snake-prone areas.
- Keep surroundings clean of tall grass and holes.
8. Heat Stroke
Cause: Prolonged exposure to high temperatures with dehydration.
Symptoms: High body temp (>104°F), confusion, hot dry skin, unconsciousness.
Immediate Solution:
- Move to cool place, loosen clothes.
- Apply cool wet cloths, fan patient.
- Seek emergency care.
Prevention Tips: - Avoid heavy work in peak heat.
- Drink water often, wear light clothing.
